Benefits of having an Allowed list and a Blocked list for ANPR

Implementing allowed and blocked lists in Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems significantly enhances security, efficiency, and automation across various applications.

A Allowed list allows seamless access for authorised vehicles—such as residents, employees, or VIPs—by automatically opening gates, enabling ticketless entry, or granting parking privileges, which reduces wait times, improves traffic flow, and elevates user convenience in controlled areas like parking lots, gated communities, or private premises.

Conversely, a Block list (or hotlist) flags prohibited vehicles, including those that are stolen, unpaid, or associated with security risks, triggering real-time alerts, denying entry, or notifying law enforcement, thereby bolstering perimeter protection, aiding in theft recovery, and streamlining enforcement without manual intervention.

Together, these lists enable precise, data-driven access control, minimise human error, optimise operations in parking management and traffic monitoring, and provide a proactive layer of defence in security and law enforcement scenarios.
